I have a monitor that shows ficm voltage and I could see my voltage starting to go from 48 to 42 to 45 after starting in the morning then when it warmed up would stay around 45 to 47 volts. Not really running bad or loss of power but my monitor would alert me of low voltage.
I have a 2005 f350 dually 6.0 with 85000 miles and was concerned that the low voltage would damage my injectors. I searched Amazon and a new one was around 100 bucks but thay had a damaged box unit for 42 bucks with the same warranty and said like new. It looks perfect and once installed my voltage was 48.5 and never went below 47.5 even under a load. So dont hesitate for less than half price and an hour to install it''s a no brainer. I think mine was on it''s way out so I''m totally happy with this purchase. I''ve heard the lower voltage could ruin the injectors that cost 1800 bucks so what do you have to lose? With a year warranty I''ll change this every year for 10 years and still have saved 1000 bucks. Eventually mine probably would have gotten to a no start situation. I''ll keep the old one for a side of the road emergency but dorman parts should be reliable. Hope this helps.

Exact fit for our late build (sept 2003 and after if you’re wondering) 2004 F250 Power Stroke. FICM repair websites wanted $300-$400. Dealership wanted $1100. I can’t imagine paying someone to do something this easy. Our truck gave us fair warning... my Edge device was showing 39v at cold starts. Voltage would climb after four or five minutes of driving but I knew the FICM voltage should be very near or at 48v at cold starts. I was also seeing a pretty good variation of FICM voltage while driving... all the way down to 45 at times. This is why having an electronic gauge in your 6.0 Power Stroke truck is a must. I don’t usually use aftermarket parts but this Dorman replacement was an exact fit and resolved the low voltage issue. The quality is better than factory as I inspected the soldering and components. It was so easy to swap, I said a few curse words and gave the old part the bird to make it feel as if I actually tried.

The original FICM that came with the 03 F-350, 6.0 was 7 pin. However, at some point the previous owners of my truck changed the FICM with a 4 pin. I was having low power issues, especially when the truck was in a tight spot, like being loaded with sand or wood, the truck wouldn''t have any throttle response not even in 4wd high, it only had some power in 4wd low. The truck just couldn''t pull it''s way out of a paper bag. Well, I thought it was boost issues, like the turbo, but it tuned out the FICM was just not quite right, yet it was passing the voltage testing. I replaced the module with this one and holy cow, it fixed the problem. The truck is back to having super torque and power. The truck doesn''t fluctuate when idling and starts right up with no smoke. If you have a 4 pin FICM that is giving you problems, this will most likely fix it. I am very happy.

I have a F350 for my camper, which I don''t drive that often. The day before my camping trip, I realized the dying FICM gave up on me. Called the dealer and left a message, asking is it possible to have this fixed the same day. Not sure if they felt the demand is unreasonable, I never received a response back. In the meantime, I am researching the options. I see Amazon have a same day delivery for this item and decided to give it a shot. Plus, it only cost $100.

While waiting for the parts, I did more research. A new FICM easily cost over $1000 from the dealer and it requires complicated programming which is impossible to DIY without special tools. What usually broken is the power unit of the FICM, which can be replaced with minimum cost. This is what this is.

I was very lucky that Amazon delivered the part early at 6pm. Sure enough, The truck is humming again before dinner.

FICM usually degrades before it dies. I did notice truck harder to start for some time, but did not pay enough attention. Fortunately I am able to fix this at home, otherwise I have to pay for towing as well.

The dying battery also contributed to the demise. It is important to Keep your battery in good condition.

Replaced my original due to ScanGauge2 reflecting a 48.5v to 46.5v swing in FICM Main Power during normal operation...I hoped this board would provide a steady 48v supply.

After several weeks of monitoring voltages running truck hard etc the specimen I received swings from 48.5v to a lowest of 46v during normal operation (per ScanGauge2).

My truck ran fine beforehand (despite voltage swing - which now I assume normal) and this amp made no discernible dif as to start, idle, accel, etc - but it works and will correct a low FMP voltage issue at a price far less available elsewhere.

Board is a ''shoe-in'' fit; comes with new thermal pads and near mirrors my original as to components (see Customer Photos)

I''d buy again but only if both boards began reading below 46v.

In sum, if FICM FMP is reading below 46v, this board should fix low voltage issue. Note new heatsink pads come included

UPDATE Nov 2015: I''ve been watching my ScanGuage and note FICM main volts hover between 47v and 48v. I''ve not seen it drop below 47v since I replaced both 12v truck batts. Truck runs great so I will up this review from a 4-Star to a 5-Sar.

I rarely take the time to review an item, but I felt compelled to in this case. I am a computer guy, not a diesel mechanic. I''m reasonably intelligent and can read, so when I saw a check engine light on my 2005 6.0L PowerStroke Excursion at only 87k miles, I connected my OBD2 reader. The truck was throwing injector circuit low voltage on all 8 injectors (P0261, P0264, P0267, P0270, P0273, P0276, P0279, P0282). I thought it unlikely that all 8 injectors failed simultaneously, so I consulted The Internet. It seems the Fuel Injector Control Module (FICM) is a very common failure point with these diesel motors (thanks Ford). I''ve only owned this vehicle for a few months and driven it a dozen times. Good thing I wasn''t on a long trip like I have planned later this summer. The vehicle is completely stock.

I don''t have a ScanGauge2 or another tuner to read the FICM voltage. My OBD2 reader only reads simple PID''s like battery voltage, etc. Luckily I found this power board from Dorman. I continue to find many Dorman products that are fantastic OEM replacements (suspension parts mostly). The Internet convinced me that ordering this was cheap insurance and at a great price. I ordered it and had it shipped overnight for $4 (thanks Amazon Prime).

Replacing this is incredibly simple. You need an 8mm wrench, a 10mm wrench, a Torx T10, a Torx T20, a pair of pliers, and some common sense. Make sure the truck is cold. Disconnect both batteries at the negative terminal. Open the coolant reservoir (diesel''s call it a degas bottle?!?) cap to relieve the pressure. Disconnect the two small hoses to the coolant (degas) reservoir. Take the two bolts out that hold it in place and move it toward the driver''s side fender to gain access to the FICM. The two front bolts on the FICM are 10mm, the two rear are 8mm. After removing those, there are 3 clips to the wiring harness on the bottom. Disconnect each one (there are two tabs on each clip, one on each side) and remove the FICM unit. Open the little access window with the T20, and remove the four screws with the T10. Flip it over and remove the other T20 screws holding the shell together. Then just remove the covers and the power board and replace in the opposite order. The hardest part of this job is getting the FICM out of the truck. I had a tough time with the harness connectors. Be sure they are seated and click in place when reinstalling it.

When I opened the FICM, I smelled some nasty burning plastic/nylon smell. This was an obvious confirmation to me that the power board had given up. I suppose it is 10 years old, so in computer years this is pretty ancient. Some of the capacitors also didn''t look good. This job took me about an hour, though I did watch a YouTube video first. After reinstall all codes were cleared and the truck runs like new. Don''t pay $500+ for a rebuilt FICM. You can do this yourself!

Update: replacement showed up, I finally got around to installing (the one in the truck hadn’t failed but is only 43v at startup and slowly climbs to 48v so figure I better replace as its on its way out. Installed the 2nd replacement which I ad high hopes as this one was in a sealed pack, not like the first. Low and behold, after startup it was at 40v and only climbed to 43v. Unfortunately to late to return. Will not be buying another one. 1st review: Ficm power supply looked like it had been previously installed or used, installed it anyways to try, it didn’t work, produced 30v max. I am guessing someone swapped out there faulty one, returned it, and supplier didn’t check it before putting back on the shelf. I am returning it. Not risking it again and will be getting one not from China.
